Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable(s).
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
3. Remove the drivers knee bolster.
4. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket.
5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate bezel.
6. Remove the instrument cluster assembly.
7. Remove the steering column.
8. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel.
9. Remove the right hinge pillar trim panel.
10. Remove the passenger knee bolster.
11. Remove the passenger knee bolster bracket.
12. Remove the body control module (BCM).
13. Remove the I/P upper trim pad.
14. Remove the instrument panel SIR module.
15. Remove the engine cover.
16. Remove the radio.
17. Remove the heater and the A/C control.
18. Remove the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
19. Rotate the I/P carrier out and downward in order to gain access to the HVAC ducts and the electrical harness.




20. Remove the bolts that retain the air ducts to the I/P carrier.
21. Remove the HVAC air distribution duct from the I/P carrier.
22. Note the location and positioning of the Instrument Panel Wiring harness.
23. Remove the wiring harness from the I/P carrier.




24. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
2. Install the wiring harness to the I/P carrier as noted in the removal procedure.




3. Install the HVAC air distribution duct to the I/P carrier.
4. Carefully rotate the I/P carrier up and install the additional components.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Install the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle.

Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

6. Install the heater and the A/C control.
7. Install the radio.
8. Install the engine cover.
9. Install the instrument panel SIR module.
10. Install the I/P upper trim pad.
11. Install the BCM.
12. Install the passenger knee bolster bracket.
13. Install the passenger knee bolster.
14. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel.
15. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel.
16. Install the steering column.
17. Install the instrument cluster assembly.
18. Install the I/P cluster trim plate bezel.
19. Install the drivers knee bolster bracket.
20. Install the drivers knee bolster.
21. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
22. Connect the battery negative cable(s).
23. Refer to Control Module References for programing and set up of the modules and instrument cluster that were removed.
