Subject: Fuse Replacement - Outside Power Rearview Mirrors (Replace 2 Amp Fuse with 5 Amp Fuse)
Models:
2008-2009 Chevrolet Express
2008-2009 GMC Savana
All Equipped with Power Outside Rearview Mirror RPOs DE5 or DE7
Condition
Some customers may comment that both of the outside power rearview mirrors are not working.
Cause
This condition may be caused by an open (blown) 2 amp outside rearview mirror switch fuse. This would result in both mirrors being inoperative at the same time.
Correction
Replace the 2 amp outside rearview mirror switch fuse with a 5 amp fuse.
The outside rearview mirror switch fuse is in position 18 located in the floor console fuse block. The floor console fuse block is located under the driver seat. The illustration above shows the location of fuse 18 (1) within the floor console fuse block.
If after replacing the fuse, the mirrors stop working and the 5 amp fuse is blown, inspect the mirror circuit for a possible cause. Refer to Mirrors in SI.
