Speedometer Inaccurate (Recalibrate Instrument Panel Cluster with Tech 2)

2008 GMC Sierra (Export Vehicles including Canada)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) speedometer is inaccurate.

Correction





This recalibration procedure only applies to IPC part number 25861650.

Technicians are to recalibrate the IPC with the Tech2(R) using the following procedure:

Connect the Tech2 to the vehicle.

Turn the ignition ON and engine OFF.

Verify that the Tech2 version software is 27.011 or later.

Select: Diagnostics.

Select: 2008.

Select: LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete.

Select: GMC Truck.

Select: C or K.

Select: Sierra.

Select: Body.

Select: Instrument Panel Cluster.

Select: Module Setup.

Select: IPC Recalibration.

Follow the directions listed on the Tech2 screen.

Disconnect the Tech2.

Verify proper operation of the speedometer.

Once this procedure is run, the menu selection will not appear again, indicating that the procedure was completed.

If the vehicle has the symptom of an inaccurate speedometer, but this menu selection does not appear on the Tech2, this procedure will not repair the symptom. Refer to the Displays and Gages - Diagnostic Information and Procedures in SI.
