Condition

Some customers may comment that the sunroof rear sunshade binds or will not move.

Cause

Note
The sunshade drive cable has a plastic retaining tab (1) which seats into the sunshade front cross-bar and when the switch is activated, rolls the sunshade open/closed.

This condition may be caused by the plastic retaining tab on the sunshade drive cable breaking off at the cable. The graphic above shows a good left hand cable (1), in comparison to one which the retaining tab has broken off (2).

Correction

Important
The right and left sunroof sunshade drive cable assemblies are now available as service parts. DO NOT replace the sunroof frame assembly when this condition is found.

Verify the broken sunshade drive cable and replace with a new part (1). Refer to Sunroof Sunshade Cable Assembly Replacement in SI.
