* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The driver information switch is normally an open momentary switch. Power is provided to the driver information center (DIC) switch via the instrument panel cluster (IPC). The IPC interfaces with the DIC switch via 4 discreet circuits. Each switch input to the IPC is pulled low or grounded when a switch is activated. The DIC switch includes the PERSONALIZATION, SELECT, FUEL, and TRIP switch.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the DIC switch assembly.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuits terminal 4 and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuits for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify all of the scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Off.

If any are not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminals listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.

* Trip switch signal terminal 3
* Fuel switch signal terminal 2
* Select switch signal terminal 3
* Personalization switch signal terminal 2

4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuits terminals listed below and ground. Verify all of the scan tool DIC Switch parameters are On.

* Trip switch signal terminal 3
* Fuel switch signal terminal 2
* Select switch signal terminal 3
* Personalization switch signal terminal 2

If any are not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.

5. If all the circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch assembly.

Repair Instructions
