Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The turn signal switch sends battery positive voltage to the cornering lamps which will constantly remain illuminated until turn signal operation is cancelled. The cornering lamps are grounded at G103 and G107.

Diagnostic Aids

Verify normal operation of the park lamps.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the turn signal/multifunction switch.
2. Ignition ON, and park lamp switch ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the park lamp control circuit terminal E and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the park lamp control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

3. Connect the harness connector X1 at the turn signal/multifunction switch.
4. Disconnect the harness connector at the inoperative cornering lamp bulb.
5. Test for less than 5.0 ohms between the ground circuit terminal G and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

6. Connect a test lamp between the inoperative cornering lamp control circuit terminal A and ground. Turn signal ON, the test lamp should illuminate

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch.

7. If all circuits test normal, replace the turn signal/multifunction switch.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Cornering Lamp Bulb Replacement (Envoy) (Service and Repair)
* Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement (Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement)
