Engine Control Module Programming and Setup
Engine Control Module Programming and Setup (W/RPO LMM)(6.6L)
The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
ECM Replacement
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
1. Capture the Option data.
Important: Clear any DTCs that may have set after completing the programming procedure.
2. Enable ECM Reprogramming-Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) (Programming and Relearning).
3. Restore the Option data in the new ECM.
4. Start and idle vehicle.
5. Using the scan tool, perform the Turbocharger Learn Procedure. Refer to Turbocharger Learn (Programming and Relearning).
6. Perform a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Enable (Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Enable).
7. If necessary, perform the following:
* Theft Deterrent-Refer to Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning).
* The Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming-Refer to Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming (Service and Repair).
* Engine Oil Life Remaining-Use scan tool to reset Engine Oil Life.
* Fuel Filter Life-Use scan tool to reset Fuel Filter Life.
ECM Reprogramming
Important: It is necessary to record Fuel Filter Life before reprogramming. The ECM reprogramming procedure will reset Fuel Filter Life to zero.
1. Record Fuel Filter Life.
Important: Clear any DTCs that may have set after completing the programming procedure.
2. Enable ECM Reprogramming-Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) (Programming and Relearning).
3. Reset Fuel Filter Life to the recorded value.
Setup for Component Replacement
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a Turbocharger Learn Procedure must be performed.
* Turbocharger
* Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor
* Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve
