Rear Side Door Replacement

Tools Required
* J 41226 Door Hinge Pin Drillout Kit
* J 41226-50 Door Hinge Pin Adapter Kit

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side 60/40 Door Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side (E24, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Rear Side 60/40 Door Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side (E24, 60 Door) (Service and Repair) or Rear Side 60/40 Door Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (E26, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Rear Side 60/40 Door Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (E26, 60 Door) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the hinged side window or the stationary side window. Refer to Body Side Window Replacement (Stationary) (Body Side Window Replacement (Stationary))Body Side Window Replacement (Swing Out) (Body Side Window Replacement (Swing Out)).
3. Remove the weatherstrips, if needed. Refer to Rear Side Door Lower Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair) or Intermediate Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the side rear door upper and lower door wedges from the door. Refer to Sliding Rear Side Door Locator and Door Side Wedge Replacement (Locator) (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the upper and the lower door latches. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement - Upper (Service and Repair) and Rear Side Door Latch Replacement - Lower (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the latch rods from the door.
7. Remove the latch handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Control Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the latch striker. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Striker Replacement - Lower (Cargo Doors) (Service and Repair)Rear Side Door Latch Striker Replacement - Lower (Double Doors) (Service and Repair).




9. Remove the side rear door hinge pins using the J 41226 and the J 41226-50 .
10. Remove the side rear door from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the side rear door to the vehicle with an assistant.
2. Install the side rear door hinge pins using the J 41226 and the J 41226-50 .
3. Install the latch striker. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Striker Replacement - Lower (Cargo Doors) (Service and Repair)Rear Side Door Latch Striker Replacement - Lower (Double Doors) (Service and Repair).
4. Install the latch handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Control Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Install the latch rods to the door.
6. Install the upper and the lower door latches. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement - Upper (Service and Repair) and Rear Side Door Latch Replacement - Lower (Service and Repair).
7. Install the side rear door upper and lower door wedges to the door. Refer to Sliding Rear Side Door Locator and Door Side Wedge Replacement (Locator) (Service and Repair).
8. Install the weatherstrips, if needed. Refer to Rear Side Door Lower Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair) or Intermediate Side Door Window Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the hinged side window or the stationary side window. Refer to Body Side Window Replacement (Stationary) (Body Side Window Replacement (Stationary))Body Side Window Replacement (Swing Out) (Body Side Window Replacement (Swing Out)).
10. Install the side rear door trim panel.
