Drive Motor Battery 300-Volt Positive and Negative Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure


Danger: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.


The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:


* Identify how to disable high voltage.

* Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.

* Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.


Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.






1. Disable the high voltage at both the drive motor generator battery assembly and the drive motor generator control module assembly. Refer to High Voltage Disabling (High Voltage Disabling) .
2. Remove the battery cable terminal fasteners (1) and reposition the cable terminals.




3. Remove the control module sight shield. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement (Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement) .
4. Remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (Chevrolet) (Service and Repair)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (GMC) (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the electric power steering control module. Refer to Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1).




7. Remove the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1).




8. Remove the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1).




9. Remove the 300 Volt cable floor grommet fasteners (1).




10. Push the drive motor battery 300 volt positive and negative cable through the floor grommet.
11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
12. Pull cable (1) rearward to remove cable from floor.
13. Push cable (1) forward of the rear cross member.
14. Pull the cable (1) out from under the rear cross member.



Installation Procedure





1. Push the cable (1) over the rear cross member.
2. Pull the cable (1) forward of the rear cross member.
3. Push the cable (1) forward to position for installation.




Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution) .
4. Install the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .




5. Install the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .




6. Install the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .






Note

Use a NEW cable gasket.

7. Install the 300 Volt floor grommet fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .




8. Install the 300 Volt positive and negative cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in) .
9. After the cable has been replaced and the re-assembly of the drive motor generator battery, enable the HV system. Refer to High Voltage Enabling (High Voltage Enabling) .
10. Install the electric power steering control module. Refer to Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
11. Install the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (Chevrolet) (Service and Repair)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (GMC) (Service and Repair) .
12. Install the control module sight shield. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement (Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement) .
