INFORMATIONBulletin No.: 08-06-05-005
Date: October 01, 2008
Subject:
Information on HD Diesel 2500/3500 Exhaust System, Catalytic Converter, DPF - Vehicle Build and Programming ECM with Correct Calibration
Models:
2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD
2009 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD with 6.6L Diesel Engine (VIN 6 - RPO LMM)
2009 MY Vehicles Built with 2009 Exhaust System
The 2009 vehicles shown above have been built with the 2009 exhaust system. However, the RPO list does not have ZK3 (2009 Exhaust System) listed in the build record or on the SPID label.
Notice:
It is important to program the ECM with the correct calibration to the correct exhaust system. Failure to use the correct calibration will result in non-compliance. If the incorrect calibration is used with the exhaust system, damage and/or plugging of the DPF will occur.
Other than the specific VINs listed in this bulletin, when 2009 MY vehicles are built with 2009 exhaust, RPO ZK3 will appear on the SPID label and build information found in GMVIS.
2009 MY Vehicles Built with 2008 Exhaust System
Notice:
It is important to program the ECM with the correct calibration to the correct exhaust system. Failure to use the correct calibration will result in non-compliance. If the incorrect calibration is used with the exhaust system, damage and/or plugging of the DPF will occur.
Important:
If it is necessary to service the exhaust system, be sure to use the correct model year parts the vehicle was originally built with.
If the vehicle is built with the 2008 Exhaust System, these vehicles will not have ZK3 - 2009 Exhaust System listed on the SPID label or in GMVIS. Any time engine calibrations are serviced, or if the exhaust system is replaced, it is important to program the vehicle with the correct calibration. If the exhaust system is serviced with a 2009 exhaust system, the vehicle must be calibrated using 2009 software.
