Models:
2009 Buick Enclave
2009 Cadillac DTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV
2009 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse
2009 GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
2009 Saturn VUE
THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER/RETAILER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.
Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect, and if necessary replace, the XM Satellite radio receiver on certain 2009 model year Buick Enclave; Cadillac DTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse; GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Saturn VUE vehicles. On some of these vehicles, the majority of satellite channels 6 through 74 will have no audio when selected and NavTraffic will not be available. This is due to an incorrect memory integrated circuit that cannot store data downloaded from the satellite.
This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer/retailer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer/retailer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.
Vehicles Involved
A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer/retailer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in DealerWorld (GM and Saturn US), or attached to the Dealer Communication (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicles base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints shown above, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.
Important:
Dealers/retailers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the system(s) below. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
- GM dealers and Canadian Saturn Saab retailers should use GMVIS.
- Saturn US retailers should use the 'Investigate Vehicle History' link on the Global Warranty Management application within DealerWorld.

Service Procedure
Notice:
When diagnosing digital radio concerns, the vehicle should be located outside with an unobstructed view of the southern sky to ensure proper reception of the satellite signal. Reception may be limited, intermittent, or not possible inside structures or under heavy cover.
1. Select the XM band and tune to channel 6, 7, or 8.
^ If XM audio reception is clear and uninterrupted, the XM receiver does NOT require replacement. No further action is required.
^ If audio reception is not heard, or is interrupted, switch the channel to 129.
- If the audio reception is heard, replace the XM receiver.
- If audio is not heard, verify that there is not any obstruction blocking the satellite signal.
Retest the XM ban. If audio is still not heard, the receiver does not have this condition. Refer to XM Digital Radio Diagnosis in SI to determine the cause of the condition. This is not covered under this service update.
2. Remove the XM radio receiver from the vehicle. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Replacement in SI.
3. Install a new XM radio receiver in the vehicle. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Replacement in SI.
