Condition
Some customers may comment that the electronic traction control disable switch will not disable the traction control and the backlighting of the switch is inoperative.
Correction
A service jumper will need to be installed from the ETC switch connector to the BCM to restore the ETC disable and backlight functions. Use the following procedure:
1. Remove center switch bank (1), passenger HVAC vent (2), IP cap (3) and the kick pad trim (4).
2. Insert electrical fish hook, coat hanger or equivalent from the switch bank opening (1) to the passenger HVAC opening (2) (photo above shows an electrical fish hook).
Note
Care must be used to avoid damaging the terminals and leads.
3. Using the wire harness kit GM P/N 20962525, on the switch end side (female side), secure a loop with tape or equivalent.
4. Attach a wire harness loop to the electrical hook. Route the wire harness behind the air bag.
5. Pull the wire harness though by the vent duct. Then, reroute the wire harness, with the original harness, under the brace to avoid damage to the harness.
6. Carefully remove the tape.
7. Plug the leads into the connector.
- Gray lead goes to Pin 8 (1)
- Purple and White lead goes to pin 1572 (2)
- Brown and White lead goes to pin 1571 (3)
8. Attach the jumper to the existing switch bundle with a tie strap or spot tape.
9. Secure the jumper to the BCM branch with spot tape or a tie strap.
10. Plug the leads into the BCM connector.
