Subject: Rattle Type Noise Coming from Front of Vehicle (Replace Power Steering Cooler Line Retainers)

2006-2012 Chevrolet Express Van Models
2006-2012 GMC Savana Van Models
Attention:
This bulletin only applies to vehicles with a looped power steering cooler.
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-02-32-006 (Section 02 - Steering).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle type noise coming from the front of the vehicle when driving over bumps with the steering wheel turned or while turning.
Cause
This condition may be caused by internal pressure spikes or pulses in the power steering cooler line.
Correction
Follow the procedure below to replace the retainers that secure the power steering cooler line to the front end lower tie bar.
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the two bolts that secure the power steering cooler line to the front end lower tie bar.
3. Remove the two plastic retainers from the power steering cooler line assembly and discard the retainers.
4. Install the three new clips, P/N 11562116, onto the cooler line as shown. The new clips will be installed at the same location as the original retainers that were removed.
5. Secure the power steering cooler line assembly to the front end lower tie bar using bolt P/N 11516424 and nut P/N 11514517.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
6. Lower the vehicle.
