Parking Brake Adjustment (With Dual Rear Wheel)

J-21177-A - Drum-to-Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning (Brake Dust Warning).
1. Remove the rear disc brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH5, JH6) (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH5, JH6))Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9) (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9)).
2. Set the J-21177-A - Drum-to-Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge so it lightly contacts the parking brake shoe friction surface of the brake rotor.
3. Position the J-21177-A - Drum-to-Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge over the parking brake shoes (1) at the widest point.
4. Rotate the parking brake adjuster until the parking brake shoes just contact the J-21177-A - Drum-to-Brake Shoe Clearance Gauge.
5. Using a feeler gauge, set the parking brake shoe clearance to 0.62 mm (0.024 in.)
6. Repeat steps 1-4 for the opposite parking brake assembly.
7. Install the rear disc brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH5, JH6) (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH5, JH6))Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9) (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JH9)).
