Condition

Some customers may comment that the right side 60 door is making contact with the front passenger door, when both doors are open. They may also comment on seeing dents on the right side 60 door outer panel.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the right side 60 door over-traveling its intended opening angle.

Correction

Limit the door travel by adding a check strap bumper (referenced below) to the 60 door check strap following the steps below:

1. Open the right side 60 door far enough to access the check strap (1).

2. To disengage the strap from the door, pull and hold the strap rearward (away from the stop pin inside the door) while opening the door towards its full open position, approximately 170 degrees.

3. Remove the 60 door check strap. Refer to Front Side Door Check Strap Replacement in SI.

Note
The illustration above shows the check strap along with its interface to the inner door stop pin and carrier.

4. Insert the new rubber bumper into the hook on the check strap. Ensure that the orientation of the bumper (2) is that the end with the flange (1) is on the top side and the flat portion (3) is facing the check strap hinge.
5. Install and re-engage the check strap. Refer to Front Side Door Check Strap Replacement in SI.
