Condition
Some customers may comment that the low oil pressure warning message will display when the vehicle comes to a stop after driving at highway speeds. They may also comment that it occurs in high ambient temperatures.
The technician may notice that the low oil pressure warning message may not display until the vehicle actually makes the stop and is then accelerated.
Cause
This condition may be caused by an engine control module (ECM) calibration anomaly.
Correction
Important
DO NOT replace any of the following parts for this condition: The ECM, oil pressure sensor, oil pressure gage, oil pump, main/rod bearings or engine assembly BEFORE you have reprogrammed the ECM.
Note
For Model Year 2010 vehicles, revised ECM calibrations will be available starting September 21, 2009.
- A revised ECM calibration has been released to address this condition. Reprogram the ECM using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibration available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS procedures in SI.
- When using a multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.
- When using a Tech 2(R) for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.
- During programming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 Volts. Only use the approved Midtronics(R) PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) or equivalent during programming.
