Some customers may question if their iPod(R) will charge through the accessory PAL (Personal Audio Link) or PDIM (Personal Device Interface Module).
Apple(R) changed their iPod charging system from a 12v charging system to a 5v charging system on the new versions of iPods.
Owners with a newer version iPod will require a separate charge cable. Refer to the following list of which iPod will charge with GM PAL or PDIM and which won't:
- iPod Shuffle (3rd Generation) - Adapter Required
- iPod Classic (102GB) - Will charge
- iPod Touch (2nd generation) - Adapter Required
- iPod Nano (4th Generation) - Adapter Required
- iPod Shuffle (2nd Generation Early 2008) - Adapter Required
- iPod Touch - Will Charge
- iPod Classic (80 and 160GB) - Will Charge
- iPod Nano (3rd Generation) - Will Charge
- iPod Shuffle (2nd Generation) - Adapter Required
- iPod (5th Generation late 2006) - Will Charge
