Transmission Disassemble




1. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) screw.




2. Remove the VSS.




3. Remove the main shaft nut.




4. Remove the main shaft nut from the main shaft.




5. Remove the rear cover bolts.
6. Remove the rear cover.




7. Remove the bolts from the bearing retainer.




8. Remove the bearing retainer.




9. Remove the yoke spacer.




10. Remove the speedometer tracking balls.




11. Remove the speedometer gear.




12. Remove the roll pin.




13. Using locking pliers, remove the snap ring.




14. Remove the synchronizer ring and the 5th gear.




15. Remove the 5th gear synchronizer and the fork.




16. Remove the 2 roller bearings and the spacer.




17. Remove the washer.




18. Remove the bearing retainer bolts.




19. Remove the bearing retainer.




20. Remove the drive shaft.




21. Remove the tapered bearing cup.




22. Remove the main shaft assembly.




23. Remove the retaining oil seal.




24. Remove the extension housing oil seal.




25. Remove the bearing snap ring from the extension housing, if equipped.




26. Remove the bearing from the extension housing, if equipped.
