Counter Gear Shaft Assemble




1. Using a driving tool, install the bearing.




2. Install the gear assembly.




3. Install the bearing and the gear assembly bearing race.




4. Install the 2 caged gears, with the rollers and spacer, into the reverse gear.




5. Install the reverse gear into the case.




6. Install the reverse gear shaft.




7. Install the adjusting spacers and the rear bearing retainer.




8. Install the 4 rear retaining screws.




9. Turn the gear assembly in order to seat the bearings against the tracks.
10. Install a dial indicator and lift the gear assembly with a screwdriver in order to measure the axial play. Add spacers for more play and remove spacers for less play.

The axial play should be 0.025-0.127 mm (0.001-0.005 in).




11. Install the reverse and 5th gear lever.
