Main Shaft Disassemble




1. Remove the primary shaft from the transmission.




2. Place the primary shaft on a workbench.




3. Using a screwdriver, remove the drive wheel.




4. Using retainer pliers, remove the drum retainer.




5. Remove the 3rd and 4th synchronizer assembly.




6. Remove the 3rd and 4th synchronizer ring.




7. Using a screwdriver, carefully lift the 3rd speed coupling cone.




8. Remove the 3rd speed coupling cone.




9. Remove the 3rd speed gear.




10. Remove the 3rd speed roller cage.




11. Using retainer pliers, turn the primary shaft assembly and remove the 5th speed gear retainer.




12. Using a press, remove the 5th speed gear leaning it on the reverse gear.




13. When removing the 5th speed gear, the taper bearings, bushing, roller cage, and reverse synchronizer assembly will also come out.




14. Remove the reverse gear cage.




15. Remove the reverse synchronizer ring.




16. Remove the coupling cone from the reverse gear.




17. Remove the 1st speed gear.




18. Remove the 1st speed gear inner cone.




19. Remove the 1st speed gear intermediate cone.




20. Remove the 1st speed gear synchronizer ring.




21. Remove the 1st speed gear roller cage.




22. Using retainer pliers, remove the retainer securing the synchronizer drum.




23. Remove the 1st and 2nd speed synchronizer assembly.




24. Remove the 2nd speed synchronizer ring.
