Stator Shaft Needle Bearing Replacement

Special Tools
* J 26941 - Oil Pump Cover Needle Bearing Remover
* J 8092 - Universal Driver
* J 43775 - Oil Pump Cover Needle Bearing Installer

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Allison - Automatic Transmission).





Note: Use this procedure if replacing only the stator shaft needle bearing.

1. Install J 26941 - remover (1) into the bearing (2) so that the lips of the tool engage the bottom lip of the needle bearing race.
2. Tighten the screw of J 26941 - remover finger tight.
3. Install a slide hammer onto the end of J 26941 - remover.
4. Remove the needle bearing (2) from the stator shaft in the oil pump cover assembly (3).




5. Install the large end of J 43775 - installer (2) onto J 8092 - driver (1).
6. Install the needle bearing (3) with the driver against the numbered end of the bearing.
7. Drive the needle bearing (3) into the oil pump cover assembly (4) until J 43775 - installer sets.
8. Ensure the bearing is installed below the stator shaft surface.

The needle bearing installed depth measurement is flush to 0.25 mm (0.010 in) below the stator shaft surface
