Starter Solenoid Cable Replacement




Starter Solenoid Cable Replacement (Diesel)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the right side front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Chevrolet) (Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) (Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side).
3. Open the starter solenoid cable positive battery post cover.
4. Loosen the battery post clamp nut (1).
5. Remove the mega-fuse block nuts (2) and detach the generator jumper (3), intake air heater cable (4), glow plug cable 5 and the auxiliary battery positive cable (6).
6. Remove the starter solenoid cable from the battery.




7. Remove the starter solenoid cable nut (1) and detach the starter solenoid cable from the right side shock bracket.
8. Remove the starter solenoid cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Attach the starter solenoid cable retainer to the right side shock bracket.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the starter solenoid cable to the starter with nut (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




3. Install the starter solenoid cable clamp to the battery post and tighten nut (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
4. Install the generator jumper cable (3), intake air heater cable (4), glow plug cable (5) and the auxiliary battery positive cable (6) to the mega-fuse holder. Tighten nuts (2) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Install the right side front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Chevrolet) (Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) (Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side).
6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) (Service and Repair).
