Front Differential Drive Pinion Gear Bearing Cup Installation (9.25 Inch HD Axle w/J45754 )

Tools Required

J 45754 - Pinion Bearing Race Remover/Installer - 9.25 in Axle

1. Before assembly, lubricate the following parts with axle lubricant. Use the correct fluid. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers).

* The pinion bearings
* The pinion and the differential gears
* The thrust washers
* The pinion bearing cups





Note: Ensure that the outer drive pinion bearing cup is even in the differential housing.

2. Position the outer pinion bearing cup (1) so that it is even in the differential housing.




3. Position the J 45754 - remover/installer (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in the differential housing.

Note: ensure that the outer drive pinon bearing cup in properly seated in the differential housing.

4. Using the J 45754 - remover/installer (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), install the outer drive pinion bearing cup
5. Remove the J 45754 - remover/installer (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
6. Measure the pinion depth and determine the selectable pinion shim thickness. Refer to Pinion Depth Adjustment (8.6, 9.5 Inch Axle) (Pinion Depth Adjustment (8.6, 9.5 Inch Axle))Pinion Depth Adjustment (9.5 Inch HD Axle) (Pinion Depth Adjustment (9.5 Inch HD Axle)).
