Condition
Some customers may comment that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated and the engine performance is poor with low power.
The technician may observe on a scan tool one or more of the following DTC(s) P0299, P0513, P0606, P0622 (Express and Savana only), P207F, P20EE, P2202 and/or P22A0 set as Current or in History.
Cause
This condition may be caused by an anomaly in the engine control module (ECM) software.
Correction
Important
DO NOT reprogram the ECM or replace any component until you have REVIEWED the diagnostic information in SI for the DTC that was set. If the diagnostic path leads to a component or ECM replacement, then reprogram the ECM BEFORE replacing any parts.
1. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
• If any of the listed DTCs are set as Current or in History, then reprogram the ECM.
2. A revised ECM calibration has been released to address this condition. Reprogram the ECM using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibration available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS procedures and Control Module References > Engine Control Module Programming and Setup in SI.
3. When using an MDI or a Tech 2 for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.
Note
Stable battery voltage is critical during programming.
4. During programming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 volts. Only use the approved Midtronics(R) PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) or equivalent during programming.
Warranty Information
For vehicles reprogrammed under the 5 year / 100,000 mile (160,000 km)
Duramax(TM) Diesel Engine warranty, use the table.
