Campaign - Noise Label Missing: Overview
CUSTOMER SATISFACTIONBulletin No.: 11035
Date: May 02, 2011
Subject: 11035 - Noise Label Missing - Install Label
Models:
2011 Chevrolet Silverado
2011 GMC Sierra
GVWR Over 10,000 Pounds
The service procedure in this bulletin (label installation) can be performed quickly and easily. To reduce the inconvenience to the customer, if a customer brings their vehicle and their label into your dealership for installation, make every attempt to have this recall performed on the vehicle immediately, if possible, so that the customer does not have to leave their vehicle at the dealership.
The Noise Label required to complete this recall will be mailed to customers of record. After 60 days, the recall will be closed in Global Warranty. However, if the customer visits the dealership after 60 days to have the label installed, dealers are to install the label and route the claim for wholesale authorization.
Condition
Certain 2011 model year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of greater than 10,000 pounds may have been built without the Noise Label installed on the driver's door. The Noise Label certifies that the vehicle meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regulation for vehicle noise emissions.
Correction
Dealers are to install a Noise Label on the driver's door. Because the label can be easily installed by the customer, the label will be mailed to customers of record for their installation; however, if they prefer, they may take the label to their dealer for installation.
Vehicles Involved
Involved are certain 2011 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles with a GVWR of greater than 10,000 pounds.
Important
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Required Field Actions section in the Global Warranty Management system. Not all vehicles may be involved.
For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.
The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program.
Parts Information
Labels required for this update are being provided to dealers at no charge and will be shipped the week of April 25, 2011. Additional labels, if needed, are to be obtained from the DWD E Store through the GM GlobalConnect site. Labels will not be available in the DWD E Store until May 6, 2011. Be sure to request the appropriate label number for service update 11035. Below is a table cross referencing vehicle build date to the appropriate SKU# in DealerWorld. Do NOT order labels from GMCC&A.
Service Procedure
1. Open the driver's door.
2. Locate the area where the Noise Label will be installed.
3. Ensure that the label surface and the area surrounding the label are clean and dry. Use non-oil based cleaner, preferably isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean the label surface and the area surrounding the label.
4. Remove the backing from the new label.
5. Apply the label in the location shown and smooth the label from the center out.
6. Close the door.

Customer Notification - For US and Canada
General Motors will notify customers of this program on their vehicle (see copy of customer letter included with this bulletin).

Dealer Program Responsibility
All unsold new vehicles in dealers' possession and subject to this program must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this program bulletin before customers take possession of these vehicles.
Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this program at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time forward.
Customers who have recently purchased vehicles sold from your vehicle inventory, and for which there is no customer information indicated on the involved vehicle listing, are to be contacted by the dealer. Arrangements are to be made to make the required correction according to the instructions contained in this bulletin. A copy of the customer letter is provided in this bulletin for your use in contacting customers. Program follow-up cards should not be used for this purpose, since the customer may not as yet have received the notification letter.
In summary, whenever a vehicle subject to this program enters your vehicle inventory, or is in your facility for service in the future, you must take the steps necessary to be sure the program correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.
