Shock Absorber Replacement (2500, 3500)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Support the rear axle assembly with the proper jack stand.




3. Remove the upper shock absorber bolt (1).
4. Remove the lower shock absorber nut (2) and bolt (3).




5. Remove the shock absorber (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the shock absorber (1) in the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the upper shock absorber bolt (1) and tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb ft).
3. Install the lower shock absorber nut (2) and bolt (3), then tighten the bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb ft)
4. Remove the jack stand from the rear axle assembly.
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
