Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAF)

J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LF1 or LFW) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static))Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716))Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LAF) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)).
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




3. Disengage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
4. Remove the radiator outlet hose (2) from the radiator.




5. Remove radiator outlet hose bracket retainer (1).
6. Disengage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) at the thermostat housing using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
7. Remove the radiator outlet hose (4) from the thermostat housing.
8. Disengage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (3) at the engine oil cooler using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
9. Remove the radiator outlet hose (4) from the engine oil cooler.
10. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install radiator outlet hose to the vehicle.





Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hose with clean coolant prior to installation.

2. Install the radiator outlet hose (4) to the engine oil cooler.
3. Engage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (3) at the engine oil cooler using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
4. Install the radiator outlet hose (4) to the thermostat housing.
5. Engage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) at the thermostat housing using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
6. Install radiator outlet hose bracket retainer (1).




7. Install the radiator outlet hose (2) to the radiator.
8. Engage tension on the radiator outlet hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LF1 or LFW) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static))Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716))Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LAF) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)).
