Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (2WD 2.9L and 3.7L) Transmission ReplacementTransmission Replacement (4WD 2.9L and 3.7L) Transmission ReplacementTransmission Replacement (4WD 5.3L) Transmission Replacement.




2. Remove and discard the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel.
4. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Automatic Transmission) 44. Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Automatic Transmission)Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Manual Transmission) 45. Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Manual Transmission).

Installation Procedure




1. Position the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the NEW flywheel bolts.

Tighten the bolts a first pass to 40 Nm (30 lb ft). Using the J 45059 rotate the bolts a final pass an additional 45 degrees.
