Power Steering Pump Replacement (LH8)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
2. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
4. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement (LLV, LLR) Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement (LH8) Service and Repair.
5. Remove the engine wiring harness bracket bolt.
6. Reposition the engine wiring harness bracket out of the way.
7. Remove the generator bracket bolts (1) and generator bracket (2) with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached.
8. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LLV, LLR) Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LH8) Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LH8).
9. Remove the power steering pump bolts (2).
10. Remove the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) from the generator bracket.
11. Separate the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LH8) Service and Repair.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LH8) Service and Repair.
2. Install the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) to the generator bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Install the power steering pump bolts (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LLV, LLR) Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LH8) Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LH8).
5. Install the generator bracket (2) and generator bracket bolts (1) to the vehicle with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
6. Position the engine wiring harness bracket.
7. Install the engine wiring harness bracket bolt and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
8. Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement (LLV, LLR) Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement (LH8) Service and Repair.
9. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
10. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
