Body Side Upper Front and Rear Access Panel Strut Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning

When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Caution:
Refer to Liftgate Assist Rod Caution Service Precautions.

1. Open and support the cargo door.





2. Using a flat-bladed tool pry the retainer clip away from the ball stud socket.





3. Remove the upper end of the assist rods from the ball stud.





4. Remove the lower end of the assist rods from the ball stud.

5. Remove the assist rods from the cargo door.





6. Remove ball stud bolts.

7. Remove ball stud bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the assist rods to the cargo door.





2. Install the upper end of the assist rods to the ball stud. Press in to place until fully seated.





3. Install ball stud bracket.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install ball stud bolts and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).





5. Install the lower end of the assist rods to the ball stud. Press in to place until fully seated.

6. Remove the support from the cargo door.

7. Close the cargo door.
