Starter Solenoid Cable Replacement (Without TP2)




Starter Solenoid Cable Replacement (Gas without TP2)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2).
2. Remove the right side front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Chevrolet) .
3. Open the starter solenoid cable positive battery post cover.
4. Loosen the battery post clamp nut (1).
5. Remove the mega-fuse holder nut (2) and detach the battery positive cable terminal (3).
6. Remove the starter solenoid cable (4) from the battery.




7. Remove the starter solenoid cable retainer bolt (1) frome the right frame rail.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




9. Remove the starter solenoid nut (1) and the starter cable (2), from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the starter cable (2) and nut (1), to the starter.Tighten the nut to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




2. Install the starter solenoid cable retaining clip (2) and nut (1), to the right frame rail.Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




3. Install the starter solenoid cable to the battery post and tighten the nut (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
4. Install the battery positive terminal (3) to the mega-fuse holder and tighten nut (2) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2).
