Subject: Drive Belt Noise or Chirp on Duramax(TM) Diesel Engines with Dual Alternators

2011-2013 Chevrolet Silverado Equipped with RPOs LML and K76
2010-2012 GMC Savana Equipped with RPOs LGH and KD9
2011-2012 GMC Sierra Equipped with RPOs LGH and K76
2011-2013 GMC Sierra Equipped with RPOs LML and K76

Vehicles Built Prior to October 12, 2011

Condition

Some customers may comment on a belt noise or chirp.

Cause

The noise may be caused by the material used in the power steering belt.

A new belt has been developed to reduce the noise.

Correction

Verify the power steering pulley hub height on the pulley. Refer to PI0594A.





Ensure that the power steering pump pulley (1) is flush against the power steering pump shaft (2) with an allowable variance of 0.25 mm (0.010 in).

Replace the power steering belt with the appropriate updated part number shown below.
