Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

3. Remove the right rear inner wheelhouse liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Traverse) Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Enclave) Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Acadia) .




4. Remove auxiliary evaporator tube nut (1) from the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator.

5. Remove auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes, (2) from the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator (4).

6. Remove auxiliary air conditioning evaporator and heater tube clip nuts (3) and release auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes from clips.

7. Remove air cleaner duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Service and Repair.




8. Remove the retaining nuts (1) and the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes (2) from the front air conditioning refrigerant heat exchanger.




9. Remove the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator and heater tube assembly retaining nuts (1) from the retaining studs and clips, from the four location along the frame.

10. Remove the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes (3) from the clamps (2).

11. Remove the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Note: The replacement A/C and heater pipes are shipped in two sections and spliced together upon installation. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Pipe Replacement/Repair Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Pipe Replacement/Repair.

1. Install the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes to the vehicle.




2. Install the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes (3) to the clamps (2).

3. Install the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator and heater tube assembly retaining nut (1) to the retaining studs and clips (2) along the frame in the four locations.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes (2) to the front air conditioning refrigerant heat exchanger.

5. Install the retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

6. Install air cleaner duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Service and Repair.




7. Install the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator tubes (2) to the auxiliary HVAC module (4).

8. Install retaining nut (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

9. Install auxiliary evaporator tubes to retaining clips and install nuts (3).

10. Install the right rear inner wheelhouse liner if necessary. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Traverse) Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Enclave) Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement (Acadia) .

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. Recharge the air conditioning system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

13. Inspect for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Leak Testing Leak Testing.
