Fuel Injector Timing Learn
Fuel Injector Timing Learn
Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the correction values for the energizing time of each cylinder.
A correction value for the energizing time is learned for each cylinder at three different rail pressure operating points. The energizing time of the pilot injection is adapted at three calibrated rail pressure points. The Fuel Injector Timing Learn must be performed anytime an Injector Timing or Injector Exceeded Learning Limit DTC is cleared and is being revaluated.
Conditions for Running the Fuel Injector Timing Learn
* Ambient air temperature is above -7°C (19°F).
* Fuel temperature is between 0-80°C (32-176°F).
* Engine temperature is greater than 70° (158°F).
* Battery voltage is greater than 10v.
* Diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration is not active.
* Engine speed is between 950-1850 RPM.
* Vehicle speed is between 64-113 km/h (40-70 mph).
* Ambient pressure is above 75 kPa (11 psi).
* No other DTCs are present.
Reset Procedure
1. Clear all DTCs using the scan tool.
2. Drive vehicle for 10 minutes to warm engine and exhaust.
3. Operate vehicle in deceleration with no accelerator pedal input following the conditions for running the Fuel Injector Timing Learn.
4. Run 20 deceleration cycles to complete the injection timing learn.
5. When completed return to the diagnostic that referred you here.
