Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Removal and Replacement.
3. Disconnect the antilock brake system (ABS) brake wiring harness from the upper control arm.
4. Remove the rear brake hose bracket to upper control arm nut and bolt.
5. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
6. Remove the upper control to support cam nut and bolt.
7. Remove the upper control arm.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
2. Loosely install the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
3. Install the upper control to support bolt and cam nut.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
4. Tighten the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt to 160 Nm (118 lb ft).
5. Tighten the upper control arm to support bolt to 164 Nm (121 lb ft).
Note:
* The rear brake hose bracket must be installed on the side of the upper control arm bracket closest to the front of the vehicle. The rear brake hose bracket must be installed parallel to the upper control arm.
* The head of the rear brake hose bracket must be installed facing the rear of the vehicle.
6. Install the rear brake hose routing nut and bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Connect the ABS brake wiring harness to the upper control arm.
8. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Removal and Replacement.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Check the rear alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement Wheel Alignment Measurement.
