Ignition Lock Cylinder

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel, then turn signal/dimmer switch.
3. Disconnect switch lead wires from connector.
4. Remove upper steering shaft retaining bolt from upper steering joint.
5. Remove steering column to dash and steering column to floor pan retaining bolts, then steering column.
6. On models with automatic transmissions, disconnect automatic lockout cable.
7. On all models, using a center punch, loosen then remove ignition lock mounting bolts, Fig. 2.
8. Turn ignition lock cylinder to ACC or RUN position and remove lock assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Install steering shaft into steering column by positioning oblong hole of steering shaft into center of hole in column.
2. Turn ignition to ACC or RUN position then install steering lock assembly onto column.
3. Turn ignition key to LOCK position and remove key.
4. Adjust hub on lock to line up with oblong hole of steering shaft. Rotate shaft to ensure steering shaft is locked, Fig. 3.
5. Tighten two new steering lock mounting bolts until head of bolt is broken off, Fig. 4.
6. Ensure proper operation of lock assembly and steering shaft.
7. Install steering column.
