This bulletin supplements Product Safety Campaign 91-C-52 issued May, 1996, Administrative Message 01-169 created on 5/31/96 and Administrative Message 01-171 created on 6/5/96. Specifically:

* The Service Procedure section has been revised to reflect the complete monthly listing of date codes required for the inspection procedure and reference of switch transfer required for 1990-91 Metro passenger buckle assemblies
* The Claims section has been revised to reflect the correct labor hours required to replace both front seat belt buttons on the 1990-91 Metro.
The revised information is printed in bold type. This supplement should be filed with your campaign materials. PLEASE NOTE THESE CHANGES OF YOUR ORIGINAL BULLETIN IN THE APPROPRIATE SECTIONS.
PARTS INFORMATION
Parts required to complete this campaign are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. An emergency requirement should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.
REPLACEMENT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES
DUE TO THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF VEHICLES THAT WILL REQUIRE THIS REPAIR (LESS THAN 10%) AND VERY LIMITED PARTS AVAILABILITY, DEALERS ARE NOT TO ORDER REPLACEMENT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES FOR USE AS SHELF STOCK. ONLY ORDER REPLACEMENT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES IF THEY ARE REQUIRED TO REPAIR A VEHICLE WITH AN INOPERATIVE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. WHEN IT IS CONFIRMED THAT BUCKLES ARE NEEDED THEY SHOULD BE ORDERED AS CSO.
For those vehicles which experience inoperative buckle assemblies, dealers will need to order buckle assemblies as listed. TO ENSURE EXACT COLOR MATCH, BOTH BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES (DRIVER & PASSENGER) MUST BE ORDERED WHEN EITHER BUCKLE ASSEMBLY REQUIRES REPLACEMENT.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
2. FOR 1991 VEHICLES ONLY: Inspect BOTH front seat belt buckle assemblies for the lot number markings (See Figure 1) to determine if involved in recall. Using a pen light will help with this inspection.
Steps number 4, 7, 8, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 24 (Switch removal and transfer), must also be performed when a Push Button Repair is performed on 1990-91 Geo Metro PASSENGER SIDE buckle. THESE STEPS IN YOUR ORIGINAL BULLETIN SHOULD BE MARKED TO INDICATE BOTH SIDES NOT JUST DRIVERS SIDE AS PRINTED.
NOTE:
BUCKLES WITH DATE CODES PRIOR TO NOVEMBER, 1990 (STAMPED OY02) ARE INVOLVED AND WILL REQUIRE SERVICE, CONTINUE WITH STEP 3.
