Charging System: Description and Operation

The Mitsubishi integral charging system consists of an alternator and an IC integral regulator. All regulator components are enclosed in a solid mold and are mounted inside the alternator, Fig. 1.
The stator windings are assembled on the inside of a laminated core that forms part of the alternator frame. A rectifier bridge containing eight diodes is connected to the stator windings, which changes A.C. voltage to D.C. voltage which is available at the output terminal. The diode trio serves to convert the voltage fluctuation at the neutral point to direct current for increasing the general output.
The alternator is also equipped with a condenser mounted in the rear housing that suppresses radio noise. Maintenance or adjustments of any kind are not required on this unit.
