Fig. 10 Parking Brake Lever Assembly:

1. Ensure the following conditions are met before adjusting parking brake cable:
a. No air is trapped in brake system.
b. Brake pedal travel is within specifications.
c. Brake pedal has been pressed a few times with approximately 66 lbs. load.
d. Parking brake lever has been pulled up a few times with approximately 44 lbs. of force and completely released.
e. Rear brake shoes are not worn beyond limit and self-adjusting mechanism operates properly.
2. Adjust parking brake by adjusting self locking nut located on parking brake adjusting rod on parking brake lever assembly until parking brake engages within seven to nine notches when being pulled with approximately 40 lbs. of force, Fig. 10.
