Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODESTo clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the memory of the Engine Control Module (ECM), either to determine if the malfunction will occur again or because repair has been completed, the ECM power feed must be disconnected for at least 20 seconds using one of the following methods:
Fuse Block Method
To remove power from the ECM, remove the TAIL/DOME fuse located in the Instrument Panel (I/P) fuse block.
Underhood Method
If working under the hood, the 40A Fusible Link C (green) in the fusible link box on the right rear fender apron can be removed to disconnect power to the ECM. Removal of the 40A Fusible Link C will erase memory in the clock and/or radio, so use of the TAIL/DOME Fuse for this purpose is preferred.
NOTICE: To prevent ECM damage, the ignition switch must be in the "LOCK" position when disconnecting or reconnecting ECM power.
