ENGINE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT
Service of the Engine Control Module (ECM) consists of complete replacement of the ECM. There are no serviceable parts, such as Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM) or Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) to replace inside the ECM. If the ECM is determined to be faulty, it is to be replaced as a complete assembly.
PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: When replacing the production ECM with a service ECM, it is important to transfer the broadcast code and production ECM number to the service ECM label. Please do not record on the ECM cover. This will allow positive identification of the ECM parts throughout the service life of the vehicle.
