READING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs)

Provisions for communicating with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Engine Control Module (ECM) are done through the OBD II Data Link Connector (OBD II DLC). The diagnostic request terminal in the duty check DLC No. 2 is used to communicate with the TCM when using flash code diagnostics.

Tech 1 Scan Tool Method

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Engine Control Module (ECM) memory can be read through the Tech 1 scan tool plugged into the OBD II DLC. The OBD II DLC is located under the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. Follow the Tech 1 User's Manual for proper procedures on how to use this scan tool.
