Sprag Unit

DISASSEMBLE
1. Sprag assembly (333) from the input sun gear (331).
2. Sprag cage and retaining washers from the outer spray race (336).





Inspect
- Input sun gear (331) for nicked or chipped teeth.
- Input sun gear spray surface for pitting or damage.
- Outer spray race (336) for pitting or heat damage.
- Retainer ring (335) for damage.

ASSEMBLE
1. Retainer ring (335) and spray cage (333) onto the input sun gear (331). Flared shoulder of the spray cage faces the input sun gear.

Important
- This procedure must be followed exactly to be sure that the spray assembly is installed properly.

2. Outer spray race (336) over the spray cage (333).
- Hold the input sun gear (331) with your left hand. The spray and retainer assembly should hold firmly when turned in a clockwise direction with your right hand.
- The spray race and retainer assembly should rotate freely when turned in a counterclockwise direction with your right hand.
