Cylinder Bore

CAUTION: If cylinder bore is very rough, deeply scratched or ridged, rebore cylinder and use oversize piston. If reboring of any cylinder is needed, it will be necessary to rebore all four cylinders to the same next oversize.

^ Tool Required:
- J 8087 Cylinder Bore Gage, Or Equivalent

^ Cylinder bore in thrust and axial directions at two points, 50 mm and 95 mm (1.96 inch and 3.74 inch) from top of cylinder using a cylinder bore gage. If the cylinder bore exceeds 75.15 mm (2.9586 inch), the cylinders must be rebored and an oversize piston installed.
^ Take the difference between the thrust and axial measurements of the upper position and the thrust and axial measurements of the lower position. This is the taper measurement.
^ Take the difference between the thrust and axial measurements at each of the positions. This is the out-of-round measurement.
^ If the taper and/or the out-of-round measurement exceeds the maximum specification of 0.10 mm (0.0039 inch), the cylinder must be rebored.
^ Inspect the cylinder walls for scratches, gouges, roughness, or ridges which indicate excessive wear.
