Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Description

All models are equipped with composite headlamps. Each composite headlamp consists of one halogen bulb which provides both high and low-beam operation and a headlamp assembly. Because the bulb is separate from the assembly, it is not necessary to re-aim the headlights if only the bulb is being replaced and the entire assembly is not removed from the vehicle.

Headlamp operation is controlled by the headlamp relays 1 and 2. The location of the headlamp relays 1 and 2 depends on the date of vehicle production:
^ On vehicles produced before December 4, 1995, the headlamp relays 1 and 2 are mounted on a bracket which is bolted onto the right-hand side of the heater case.
^ On vehicles produced on and after December 4. 1995, the headlamp relays 1 and 2 are mounted on a bracket which is bolted onto the blower case.
