Description:

Description:

Removal Procedure
^ Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
^ Drain the cooling system. Refer to Engine Cooling and Radiator.
1. Remove the three bolts.
2. Remove the throttle cover to gain access to accelerator and throttle cables.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever.
4. Disconnect the throttle cable (automatic transmission) from the throttle lever.
5. Loosen the clamp to the air intake hose.
6. Remove the air intake hose from the air intake pipe.
7. Disconnect the two coolant hoses from the air intake pipe.
8. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation ([1][2]PCV) hose from the air intake pipe.
9. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve air intake/hose from air intake pipe.
10. Remove the three bolts securing the intake air pipe.
11. Loosen the clamp at the throttle body.
12. Remove the air intake pipe from the throttle body.
13. Disconnect the throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
14. Remove the nut from the accelerator cable bracket.
15. Remove the bolt from the accelerator cable bracket.
16. Remove the screw from the accelerator cable bracket.
17. Remove the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body.
18. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid vacuum valve vacuum hose from the throttle body.
19. Disconnect the two coolant hoses from the throttle body.
20. Remove the nut from the throttle body to the intake manifold.
21. Remove the bolt from the throttle body to the intake manifold.
22. Remove the throttle body and gasket from intake manifold.

Disassembly Procedure

Important: Do not remove the fast idle air valve from the throttle body. The fast idle air valve is not serviceable. The fast idle air valve is calibrated at the factory and is not adjustable.

1. Remove the two screws from the Throttle Position (TP) sensor to the throttle body.
2. Remove the Throttle Position (TP) sensor from the throttle body.
^ Clean the passages by blowing with compressed air. Do not use drills or wires, these may damage the passages.

Notice: The TP sensor, fast idle air valve or other components containing rubber must not be cleaned in a solvent or parts bath. A chemical reaction will occur that can cause the parts to swell, harden or distort.

Assembly Procedure
1. Install the TP sensor to throttle body.
2. Secure the TP sensor with two screws. Do not tighten fully.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the new gasket and the throttle body to the intake manifold.
2. Secure the throttle body with one nut and one bolt. Tighten the throttle body bolt and the nut to 18-28 Nm (13.5-20 lb. ft.).
3. Connect the two coolant hoses to the throttle body.
4. Secure the two coolant hoses with hose clamps.
5. Connect the EGR solenoid vacuum valve vacuum hose to the throttle body.
6. Install the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body.
7. Secure the accelerator cable bracket with one nut, one bolt and one screw. Tighten the throttle body nut and the bolt to 18-28 Nm (13.5-20 lb. ft.).
8. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
9. Install the air intake pipe to throttle body.
10. Secure the intake air pipe to the throttle body with the one clamp.
11. Secure the intake air pipe in place with three bolts. Tighten the three air intake pipe bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb.ft.).
12. Connect the IAC valve air intake hose to the air intake pipe.
13. Connect the PCV valve hose to the intake air pipe.
14. Connect the two coolant hoses to the intake air pipe.
15. Secure the two coolant hoses with hose clamps.
16. Connect the air intake hose to the air intake pipe.
17. Secure the air intake hose with one clamp.
18. Connect the throttle cable (automatic transmission) to the throttle lever.
19. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle lever.
20. Install the throttle cover.
21. Secure the throttle cover with three bolts. Tighten the throttle cover bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
22. Connect the negative (-) battery cable. Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).

Adjust
^ Adjust the accelerator cable. Refer to Engine Fuel.
^ Adjust the throttle valve cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission On-vehicle Service.
^ Adjust the TP sensor. Refer to Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Adjustment.

23. Turn ON the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
24. Turn OFF the ignition.
25. Check for any fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
26. Refill the engine coolant to proper level. Refer to Engine Cooling and Radiator.
