Transmission Range Switch

The transmission range switch sends signals to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) indicating the position of the manual selector. The PCM uses these signals to determine which gear has been selected, to control shift points. It is also used to prevent the engine from starting when manual selector is not in either Park (P) or Neutral (N) position. The transmission range switch is located is located on the right side of the transmission.
