Coastdown Downshift

1. Set the Power/Normal switch to Power (P) position.
2. With the manual selector in the Drive (D) position and the OD switch pressed, accelerate vehicle until the transmission is in 4th gear (OD) and Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) is applied.
3. Release the accelerator pedal, lightly step on the brake pedal bringing vehicle to a complete stop and observe:
- TCC releases.
- Monitor vehicle speed at which each downshift occurred.
4. Set the Power/Normal switch to Normal (N) position.
5. With the manual selector in the Drive (D) position and the OD switch pressed, accelerate vehicle until the transmission is in 4th gear (OD) and TCC has applied.
6. Release the accelerator pedal, lightly step on the brake pedal bringing vehicle to a complete stop and observe:
- TCC releases.
- Monitor vehicle speed at which each downshift occurred.

Evaluation:














- Check if gear downshifts and TCC release occur properly as shown in shift schedule chart, TCC shift schedule chart and shift speed tables. If transmission is not within specifications, refer to the Transmission Diagnosis table for possible causes and corrections.
