Parking Brake System: Adjustments

Parking Brake Adjustment:

PRE-ADJUSTMENT CONDITIONS
Ensure the following conditions are met before cable adjustment:
^ No air is trapped in brake system.
^ Brake pedal travel is within specifications.
^ Brake pedal has been pressed 3 to 10 times with about 30 kg (66 lbs.) load.
^ Parking brake lever has been pulled up 3 to 10 times with about 20 kg (44 lbs.) pressure and completely released.
^ Rear brake shoes are not worn beyond limit and self-adjusting mechanism operates properly.

PROCEDURE
Loosen or tighten locknut until parking brake is applied with 6 to 8 clicks and 20 kg (44 lbs.) of pressure.
