System Performance Test

A/C System Performance Specifications:






Tools Required:
J 39183-C R-134a Manifold Gage Set
J 6742-03 Thermometer Dial

Important

^ Perform this test only when:
- Vehicle is not exposed to direct sunlight.
- Ambient temperature is within 15-35°C (59-95°F).


1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK.
2. Apply parking brake.
3. Connect J 39183-C manifold gage set Hi side (red) and Low side (blue) hoses to their respective service ports on the vehicle.
4. Set air mode to VENT.
5. Set fresh/recirc to RECIRC.
6. Set temperature control to full COLD.
7. Start engine, warm up to normal operating temperature and let it run at normal idle speed.
8. Set blower speed to HI.
9. Press A/C switch to ON.
10. Place J 6742-03 thermometer dial probe through I/P center outlet.
11. Keep all doors, windows and hood open.
12. Monitor gage set and record refrigerant pressures when they stabilize.
13. Monitor thermometer and record center outlet air temperature when it stabilizes.
14. Turn blower speed selector to OFF.
15. Turn ignition switch to LOCK.
16. Remove thermometer.
17. Disconnect manifold gage set.

Evaluation

Compare recorded Hi and Low refrigerant system pressures and outlet air temperature with the graphs in Figure. If recorded values are not within specifications, refer to A/C System Refrigerant Diagnosis table for further diagnosis. System Diagnosis
